The Alumni and staff were proactive in their planning for the 70th anniversary celebrations for 2017. Merold Hiebner, an alumnus of 1981, composed Nihil Sed Optimus after being approached to write a school anthem. There was great excitement in the air as the milestone year promised to be a very special one with a variety of occasions and events planned. These included a Thanksgiving service, theatrical productions, a dinner and a reunion. Sean Lewis and a few dedicated members of the 1979 matric group worked sedulously towards creating a world-class library/resource centre which would enhance students’ learning. The class of 79 was supported by Paul Stohrer and the Kirstenbosch Rotary Club who were generous in donating funds. Mr Mackrill and Mr Kajie worked tirelessly in offering their practical support.
