It was time to say goodbye to our deputy principal who was more than just your average Afrikaans teacher. Mrs Wilson had contributed immensely to the ethos of the school through her music, art and dance. She was given a good send-off in the form of a lunch and tributes in the hall. Her mom and former colleagues were special guests.

This was the year that the TLSA turned 100 and a special meeting was held at South Peninsula High in Steurhof to commemorate the many highlights and contributions made by the best teachers’ union in the world. Many Athlone High teachers were, and still are, members of the TLSA
