Empathy is a trait that one normally associates with Athlone High teachers. Two of our teachers, Neal Bekkers and Janine Naidoo became sensitive to the needs of hungry pupils and they were instrumental in setting up a feeding scheme at the school under the auspices of the Peninsula Feeding Scheme. The Feeding Scheme still serves nutritious meals to hungry students on a daily basis. Kelly Vincent was our top matriculant and obtained five distinctions. Ebrahim Fataar, staff, also did well, especially in his favourite subjects which are of course Mathematics and Physical Science.
