The state seemed to have learnt nothing when it came to teachers’ strikes and the 2010 one became a bitter and protracted one, worse than the 2007 edition. The Soccer World Cup “benefits” did not trickle down to poor schools and at least one critic referred to FIFA as THIEFA for allegedly pocketing host countries’ money.
