The Alumni Association was formally constituted and the executive members played a leading role in our 60th anniversary celebrations including the Thanksgiving service at the Joseph Stone Auditorium and the dance at Rondebosch East Primary School hall.

The teacher’s strike that commenced on 1 June was not just about low salaries but brought to the fore a number of educational issues including poor discipline by the students and bad working conditions for teachers. Mrs Marshall, now one of our English teachers, excelled in the matric external examinations. OBE had now evolved into NCS (National Curriculum Statement). Earlier this year Revonne Thomas literally ran away from all competitors in the girls’ sprints at the Green Point Athletics Stadium during the High Schools’ Athletics Competition. She was expertly coached by Wayne Hendricks.
